What is the role of a councillor?
They have a massively varied role representing our community on every level. They deal with housing, benefits, fly-tipping, parking, city planning – the list goes on.
How can I speak to my councillor if I have an issue?
Contact them via any of the numbers/emails. They also hold a weekly surgery – 6pm Monday at the Ida Kinsey Centre (except Bank Holidays)
How do I register to vote?
Takes 5 minutes and you can vote in person or via post depending on when you apply: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
How can I get involved with my local Labour Party?
Contact us or come along to a meeting/campaign session – we’re a friendly bunch!
What is a branch meeting?
Deals with local issues and politics, massively varied – potholes, city budgets, Brexit are all discussed. We do not discuss personal casework in meetings.

When are meetings?
Branch meetings are on the third Monday of the month, at 7pm in the Ida Kinsey Centre in Grove Village. CLP meetings are the 4th Thursday of every month at the town hall.
Why are there so many acronyms used in meetings and discussions?
We really like acronyms in the Labour Party, if you’re ever unsure of a term or procedure in a meeting just ask. Even long term members need a refresh sometimes so here is a handy jargon buster to cover some of the basics:
