The election of our lives is in sight – on December 12th the U.K. will go to the ballot box and we’ll hopefully see the end of ten years of austerity. In Manchester Central we are staunchly Labour but other MP’s and PPCs will be fighting for every vote over the next week. The nearest marginals to us are:
Altrincham and Sale West (Conservatives won by 6,000)
Bury North (Labour won by 4,000)
Bury South (we have a fantastic new candidate)
Bolton West (conservatives won by 1,000)
Crewe and Nantwich (Labour won by less than 50 votes)
A Labour government would transform this country, it wouldn’t just reverse the effects of austerity which include 140,000 deaths from austerity and a damning UN report on our treatment of disabled people. Or the 4.1 million children living in poverty in the 6th richest country in the world and of course the huge cuts to our emergency services.
The 2019 Labour Party Manifesto is one of hope and plans for real change for the U.K. to fight the climate crisis and build a better future. My favourite policies include our pledge to end rough sleeping within 5 years and introduce rent controls and genuinely affordable homes. The scrapping of universal credit and plans to replace it with a dignified welfare system. Closest to my heart is the ending of the privatisation of the NHS and the provision of free prescriptions for everyone.

- Talk to your friends/family/coworkers/shopkeeper about why they should be voting Labour on the 12th
- Vote Labour December 12th – find your polling station here. Also if you’ve forgotten to send off your postal vote you can hand it in at a local station.
We’re a government in waiting and we have a plan to implement real change in the U.K.
