Ardwick Labour Party Ardwick Labour Party
This year we have the chance of a lifetime to change the UK, we have a general election on the 12th December and we can put Jeremy Corbyn into No.10 and the years of misery caused by the Tories. You can contribute to our radical manifesto and have your say on the future of our country.
This election isn’t just about Brexit – it’s about austerity, the environment and our NHS. It’s vital we turn out and vote for Labour, if you’re not sure if you can make to the polling station you can apply for a postal vote or proxy.
This is going to be a monumental election so get out and campaign, talk to your friends, family and colleagues – and make sure you vote Labour on December 12th.
How can you vote?
There are a few ways of voting but firstly make sure you’re registered to vote! It takes 5 minutes to be able to vote Labour this general election.
You need to register by midnight on 26 November to vote in the General Election on 12 December.
If you want to avoid the cold on election day you can apply to vote by post, register before:
- 5pm on 26 November if you live in England, Scotland or Wales
- 5pm on 21 November if you live in Northern Ireland
If you’re going to be abroad on election day, you can apply to vote by proxy after you’ve registered. It takes time to vote by post from overseas. There’s a different process to register anonymously, for example if you’re concerned about your safety.
How do you get involved with campaigning?
We’ll be campaigning across Ardwick and the Manchester Central constituency for the re-election of our brilliant MP Lucy Powell. We’re in a solid Labour seat so we’ll also be helping our comrades in nearby marginals – Bolton West and Altrincham and Sale West, you can find canvassing events going on in these areas here:
These are some of our nearest marginal seats and changing (or holding) these is key to getting a Labour government and showing the Tories how we can change the status quo with our radical, people led policies.
I’m a student, what should I do?
We have a huge student population in Ardwick from all over the country and one of the many brilliant things about the area is it’s a Labour stronghold. So if you’re from an area which isn’t represented by Labour (or has a slim Labour majority) then check on UniVotes where your vote will make the biggest impact for Labour. All you have to do is enter your home and university postcodes.
Make sure you vote Labour on December 12th 🌹🌹🌹🌹
